THUMBS UP FOR TONY EHRENREICH – THUMBS DOWN FOR SAFA !

Better late than never the Western Cape secretary of COSATU and leader of the ANC in the Cape Town City Council is reported on the front page of today’s Star as condemning the composition of the Bafana Bafana football team.

He is quoted as saying “There is no colour there. No white and no coloured, Just one white player and three coloureds. The other 21 are all African.”

At last an ANC insider admits the truth.

However, the SAFA spokesperson Dominic Chimhavi said: “The issue of colour in South African football should be addressed at school level. It is the schools that are letting us down”.

“White boys at those previously Model C schools are not encouraged to play the sport. They are encouraged to play cricket and rugby”

What a flash of disingenuity.

When the SA Rugby Union blames the lack of transformation on the lack of African players coming up from the schools it is rejected out of hand and they are called racists.

Talk about double standards!

Quite obviously the donation (Bribe) paid to CONCACAF should rather have been spent in South Africa developing football among all races.
