It is a great pleasure to be able to confirm that the Clive Hatch Scholarship has provided the opportunity two boys from Mplumalanga to attend Jeppe High for Boys in Johannesburg.
The recipients are Sibusiso Nkosi 16 years old from Barberton and in grade 11. The other recipient is 14 year old Robert de Morney from Middelburg.
Jeppe is the Oldest Public School in Johannesburg with a reputation for developing young men of character where the qualities of loyalty, honesty, integrity and friendship are considered paramount. The school is ranked amongst the top twenty High Schools in South Africa.
The Scholarship was established in 2011 by Clive Hatch the former Provincial Leader of the Democratic Alliance in Mpumalanga. He served on the Witbank City Council in 1998/99 and was then elected to the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature serving for ten years, eight of them as Leader of the Opposition.
Throughout his adult life Clive has aimed to do things that will “help to make a difference” and now that he has retired from the corporate world and from active politics he has decided that the greatest opportunity he can offer is to provide a soundeducation for young people, he therefore established an education scholarship.
He outlines the scholarship as follows:
“The Clive Hatch Scholarship Fund has been established to assist financially disadvantaged boys of all races from the Mpumalanga Province who despite difficult and challenging circumstances have shown a will to succeed once given an opportunity. Without this scholarship they may never have had the opportunity for a quality education. They now have the chance to attend Tsessebe House at Jeppe High School for Boys which is considered to be one of the top twenty boys schools in South Africa”.
He concluded by congratulating the recipients and expressed his confidence that they will both take full advantage of the opportunity they have been given and use that opportunity to help develop other young people in Mpumalanga.
